Default D70 LCD cover

How many D70 owners have lost their LCD cover?

Many may have realised, but would like to share this tip. Look at the bottom left hand side of the LCD cover, there's a hole. Put a strong thread thru' it and attached the other end to your camera strap.

You will not lose your LCD cover.

Just curious Ansel, what's a D76 in your signature.

Have been wondering, what's the DK5 (just a black piece of plastic) for that came with the D70? Care to enlighten?

The DK-5 is to cover the viewfinder - to reduce any stray light that might enter from the viewfinder when you are shooting via the timer or wireless remote.

Don't think it's for the hotshoe, too big. Has a sort of clip at the rear and more like for the viewfinder. But don't seem to be able to figure how it is to be attached and its purpose.

Thanks gooseberry, thought so. Have to remove the rubber piece around the viewfinder to attach?

Why did'nt they make it like the F90x, a lever beside the viewfinder and stray light will not enter.

nokin, the dk-5 is a cheap solution to the stray light problem that you won't encounter most of the time. You need it when you are shooting with your eye not on the viewfinder, such as when you are using the self-timer to shoot yourself. In such cases, light may enter the viewfinder and confuse the meter and you get underexposure.

Of course, the F90, F100, F4, F5, etc are pro-class bodies and you pay more for them for the lever, as well as many other conveniences.

Thanks Kex,

D-76 is a Kodak b/w film developer. You won't need this with a digital camera!

Default Viewfinder blind

I am using the one that came with the 300D, for two reasons:

- It's made out of rubber, instead of plastic ((easier to put in place); (and 300D and D70 viewfinders are the same size)),
- It can be attached to the neckstrap.
(Is there a way to attach DK-5 on D70 neckstrap?).

My guess is that it wouldn't be an expensive accessory; and it's so handily available, attached to the neckstrap.

Cheers,
charles

Are they the ones that goes onto the LCD screen on the camera, not the cover?

Can buy one off you?

Yes, they go onto the LCD direct. Put your name in the MO list if you're interested

3 left from the 2nd MO, stock should reach this weekend.

Should be the same price as the D100's $28 methinks. NPS gets 20% off.

Remind me to check for you, I'll be going down next week or something.
