I understand that we should be neutral but we should consider, like pointblankshots said that even if we were to work at MacD we would earn more than that. Not forgetting we are professional's meaning that we specialise and do photography for a living and they should revise that kind of salary. Although I may not be a studio assistant now but I had been in that shoes. I guess all were asking are better paid jobs as photogs and don't forget that if this goes on than in the future all of us photogs will be known as cheap labour cause we work for peanuts. In that being so our salary will surely be lower in the coming year or so. Be proud of your work and charge a reasonable rate and in general photogs income will increase.

As I had said those ppl spoilt the whole market. They wants to hire ppl at a rock-bottom price so that their income will be more. They only care about their own income and they don't give a damn to those photog that work hard. In short, they only care about their own pockets!
He offered $800 is damn too low lor..and he still demand that person need to have photoshop skills, work long hours and even saturday! What da ya think? I am not getting personal...think about it and tell me that is it too much liao?

the top tier pros earn a few times more than 5-7k. I know of one that earns 150k per annum.

Dun think the gov can do anything to better the image of photographers. The 'relevant authority' i.e the N*C, cannot even unite all the clubs and societies. May be its also the fault of some of the bigger societies all wanting to be the "big brother".
The same apply to professionals. I had photog passing some of his jobs to me at $70/$120 for a 4hrs job. Of course I rather have no income than to be cheap. Also, I had quoted a potential client $800 for a job but he told me someone had told him the job can be done at $250. I told to get that photog if he is more concern with budget than result.
I would like to propose to form a freelance photog association or something like that to bring up our image. Not sure the PPAS (Professional Photographers Association of Sg) is of any help?
