Default Potential D70 buyer seeks advice

Will hopefully be getting a D70 soon (fingers and toes all crossed!)

I'll be getting it with 2 additional lenses

Nikon 18-70mm (kit lens) - General purpose and landscapes
Nikon 50mm f/1.8 - General purpose and low light situations
Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 - For a decent telephoto capability

Just like to check how do the above lenses perform for macro photography?( I need to take photos of my wargaming miniatures...hehehe)

Think should be able to get all of the above for about S$4k +/-?

I currently have a Sunpak PZ5000AF flash which I'm hoping to transfer over to the D70.

Well, not very close would be the short answer. However for wargaming, you should easily be able to use cheap-ish close up accessories to obtain the necessary magnification. Either close-up filters or third party extention tubes, or better yet if you don't mind mucking around with manual exposure, a lens reversing ring for your 50/1.8. But that will give you more magnification than you will probably need.

Sorry to be borrowing the thread, how much is the reversing ring (52-72 or the BR-2A) and where can we get them?

Thanks

BR-2A is about SGD26.00 I got mine from Cathay - (52mm filter thread size)
BR-5 - 62-52 step down ring - for 62mm lenses to attached to the BR-2A

Lenses should be from the 20mm - 58(60)mm range..

This are the reproduction ratio's.

Auto Focus (AF) Lens
Reproduction Ratio

20mm/2.8 (SEE NOTE 1) 3.4X
24mm/2.8 2.5X
28mm/2.8 2.0X
35mm/2 1.4X
50mm/1.4 1/1.1X
50mm/1.8 1/1.4X
Micro 55mm/2.8 (SEE NOTE 2) 1.2X - though I dont see why you want to do this? (it is a micro lens for crying out loud)
58mm/1.2 Nocturnal 1/1.2X
Micro 60mm/2.8 (SEE NOTE 1) 1/1.2X - though I dont see why you want to do this? (it is a micro lens for crying out loud)

Manual Focus Lenses
Reproduction Ratio

20mm/2.8 (SEE NOTE 1) 3.4X
24mm/2 2.6X
24mm/2.8 2.6X

50mm/1.2 1.1X
50mm/1.4 1/1.1X
50mm/1.8 1/2X
55mm/2.8 Micro 1/1.1X - though I dont see why you want to do this? (it is a micro lens for crying out loud)
58mm/1.2 Nocturnal 1/1.2X
Zoom 28-85mm/3.5-4.5 (SEE NOTE 1) 2.9X - 1/35.8X
Zoom 35-70mm/3.3-4.5 2.1X - 1/6.1X

Zoom 35-135mm/3.5-4.5 (SEE NOTE 1) 2.2X - 1/14.9X
Zoom 35-200mm/3.5-4.5 (SEE NOTE 1) 2.2X - 1/Infinity X (SEE NOTE 3)

Note 1 - The BR-5 (or step-down 62mm-52mm ring) is required to mount the lens in reverse.

Note 2 - When mounting the 55mm/2.8 in reverse, avoid strong pressure to the end of the lens nearest the the aperture ring, especially if the focus ring is extended, could cause camera malfunction.

Have fun...
