I got the April copy of PHOTOi magazine yesterday and came across the following statement on Page 10 ("PMA 2004 show" article > "The trends" box):
"Nikon match Canon with a full frame camera offering the D2X for well heelded amateurs and pros and the DX00 for the serious ameteurs." I have read many rumours on D2X over the past few months but never heard of the DX00...wondering how likely is it? Last edited by Leongfm; 5th April 2004 at 03:30 PM. |

From the PMA report, it seems the D2X, whether FF or DX, will be for the "well-heeled", meaning super loaded pros and amateurs! It is not surprising it they price it at the Kodak 14n level. Actually it is not difficult to imagine a future where Nikon has FF and DX cameras existing side-by-side. At it is right now, this is the current situation, where FF film cameras and DX digital cameras do exist side and complement each other. If there is a market for FF DSLRs I don't see any reason whey Nikon shouldn't go ahead and produce one. If all those loaded pros and amateurs are rushing to buy 1Ds's from Charlie company BECAUSE it is full-frame, then Nikon will certainly come up with an answer for them. |

God when will the BullS**T rumour mill ever stop.
For Pete's sake Nikon have on at least 2 occasions categorically stated in public that there will be NO FULL FRAME DSLRs, now or in the forseeable future. According to two of my sources (not BS rumor mills online) Nikon are likely to announce the D2x either late in Q2 or in Q3 this year. It may be on sale in the UK before years end. It's not expected in Australia before early 2005.
