Rob Galbraith: Eye-Fi to broaden access to Wi-Fi networks, ship Eye-Fi Geo X2 card
Next month, Eye-Fi will ship the Eye-Fi Geo X2, a variant of its SD memory card and wireless transmitter that will be sold exclusively by Apple. The company has also announced a partnership with Devicescape, maker of Easy Wi-Fi, that will enable users of Eye-Fi X2-series cards to upload photos and video at hundreds of thousands of Wi-Fi locations globally, ranging from open and campus networks to hotspots managed through aggregator Boingo and others. This new feature, which will require an annual subscription, is to launch starting on June 1, 2010.
