Default Question about 12-24mm

I am planning to get a 12-24mm but have read from some postings here that the Nikon 12-24mm is partial frame while the Sigma one is full frame. What's the different between this partial and full frame thingy?

Sigma one can be used on full frame SLRs without any restrictions. The Nikon one is optimised for the size of their digital sensor, which is roughly APS sized and not 35mm.

hmm so many HOT topics about this lens ehehe..

yeah basically very simple..

if u want 12mm and u have to use it on a film camera, then there's no choice, it's gotta be the sigma.

if u use digital only, then u have a choice of both.

so which one? damn i'm trying to figure that out myself...

I just checked on the Sigma one and it seems like a DG lens. Which means, it doesn't come with an aperature ring which I can't use on my old SLR.

I am shooting more on digital nowadays. Used to be happy with my 28mm on my SLR but now Furthermore, since the sigma is a DG lens, I don't think it is possible to be use on my old SLR. Thus, cannot share among my 2 cameras

U can still use DG lens on older Nikon film bodies, except that M and A mode are not usable due to the lack of aperture ring.
