I saw like 3-4 boxes of 17-40 F4, a couple of 70-200 F2.8 (don't know IS or not), and 1 box of 100-400mm IS on top of the shelves at TCW today. Buy Buy Buy !

Carrying 2 bodies around; 1 with the 24-70L and the 2nd with the 70-200 f2.8L IS is the ultimate brag ![]() |

bragging would be getting your last L lens. *last of the set, so nothing else to get.*

Congrats! Would you believe, I got my first L when I was 17 years old. Fortunately, I passed the driving test so I could throw away that particular L
You should think of your lens as a lineup that will give you the most options. I would see your options to be something like this: 1. Canon 24-70 F/2.8L and Canon 70-200 F/4L. Disadvantage: not wide enough 2. Sigma 12-24 F/3.5-5.6, Canon 24-70 F/2.8L, and Canon 70-200 F/4L. Disadvantage: cost. Advantage: most flexibility. 3. Canon 17-40 F/4L, Canon 50 F/1.4, and Canon 70-200 F/4L. Disadvantage: no zoom between 40-50 and 50-70 - to which I reply BIG DEAL! You can easily zoom 20mm with your feet! Advantage: Cost and flexibility! The 50 F/1.4 is sharper than the 24-70 F/2.8L AND gives you the option to shoot at F/1.4. With the 1.6x crop this becomes an 80mm F/1.4 which is an ideal portrait lens. What's more, the combination of a 17-40 and a 50/1.4 is cheaper than the 24-70 by itself! |
