i think the idiotic raf999 is blind or simply he is watching someone else playing in aqualanlan's place.

are we even watching the same match with this lunatic?

he had a FINE game? ok, thanks for his 'slip' that resulted in the nice layoff for Stevie G to smash home our 2nd goal.

    wow, fantastic.

    raf999 did it again. masterstroke.

Charlton confirm Shelvey in talks with liverpool

    By Soccernet staff

    April 27, 2010

Charlton Athletic have revealed they have given midfielder Jonjo Shelvey permission to talk to Liverpool about a possible move to Anfield.

Shelvey, 18, has been tipped as one of the hottest prospects outside of the Premier League but may now have a chance to display his talents in the top flight after Charlton confirmed that he has been allowed to travel to Merseyside to discuss personal terms.

Liverpool will pay an initial 1.7 million for the England youth international, with further potential payments depending on domestic and international appearances.

Shelvey is thought to have undergone a medical and included in the terms of the move is a commitment for the two clubs to discuss a strategic partnership involving the development of players in both directions.

Shelvey made his first-team debut aged just 16 years and 59 days - becoming the club's youngest ever player, and he has scored four goals from midfield this season.

    BABEL LEARNS FROM ANFIELD MISTAKES

    Posted 28/04/10 17:09

Liverpool forward Ryan Babel admits he allowed himself to be affected by outside influences which ruined his game and almost forced him out of the club.

The Holland international was a bit-part player midway through the season and found an outlet for his frustrations through his personal Twitter page.

That prompted a personal rebuke from manager Rafael Benitez and with Birmingham reportedly having a 9million bid turned down, it appeared the Dutchman was heading for a January exit.

However, a meeting between Benitez, Babel and his agent straightened things out and since then the player has started to show glimpses of the form which persuaded Liverpool to pay 11million for him in July 2007.

And he could become a pivotal figure in Thursday's Europa League semi-final, second leg tie at home to Atletico Madrid, who lead 1-0, as there are major doubts over Dirk Kuyt (calf) and David Ngog (hamstring).

Babel could be asked to play the lone striker role, a position Benitez had been reluctant to give the 23-year-old despite him impressing there throughout Holland's youth ranks.

But Babel is confident he can do a job if required.

"I have made some mistakes during the season so I have learned a lot from this season and I will take that with me into the future," Babel said.

"I think the turning point was that I could focus on the football and not rumours and different sayings of people and the media.

"For every young player it is difficult to focus 100% when you know you are the subject of something that can influence your game.

"During that period people were telling me negative and positive things and that made me think about different things and you cannot concentrate on football.

"When you read in one paper that Liverpool want to get rid of you - even though you know it is not true - it is those little things which confuse you.

"I was not close [to leaving] but it was one of those things that did not make me concentrate 100%."

Of Benitez's pep talk he added: "It is a situation where both sides have to work with each other.

"It has given me confidence recently and I'm now trying to give something back.

"Liverpool have confidence in me and I have confidence in Liverpool."

Babel lays some of his self-doubt and insecurity at the feet of his father, a hard taskmaster by all accounts.

"I am very self-critical, that is how I have been raised," he added.

"I have a very difficult father who is always looking at points where I can improve.

"Sometimes that is annoying because you come off the pitch with a good feeling and he still comes with points that could be better.

"I only want to improve more. I think it is clear how my career has been so far but I'm confident for the future so, as long as I can concentrate on football, the best will definitely come."

LIVERPOOL WON`T STAND IN BENITEZ`S WAY - REPORTS

    Posted 28/04/10 08:23

The Liverpool hierarchy will not stand in Rafa Benitez's way if Juventus formalise their reputed interest in securing his services, according to reports.

Speculation has raged for the past two weeks that the Old Lady of Italian football want Benitez to become their next manager and are prepared to offer him a four-year, 16m contract in order to lure him away from Anfield.

'While the Italians are not yet near to putting a formal request to Liverpool there is the sense that the move will speed up over the next few weeks,' reports The Independent.

'Senior figures at Liverpool have indicated that - unlike in the past when Benitez has parlayed his popularity with the fans into improved contracts and greater influence at the club - this will not be the case should Juventus's offer turn out to be genuine.'

Benitez's position is certainly significantly weaker than it was this time last year when his side were still challenging for a league title. Following a dismal campaign this season, it looks almost certain that he will fail to deliver on the "guarantee" of Champions League qualification he stated at the start of the year.

Mathematically still possible for the Reds, although I don't really want to pin too high hopes..

Man City vs Aston Villa; Spurs vs Bolton; Liverpool vs Chelsea - 3 huge games this wkend that will shape the run in for 4th place.

    C'mon you Reds!!

    'I DON'T LIKE THE RUMOURS'
Benitez: Liverpool silent on my future

    By Soccernet staff

    April 29, 2010

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has voiced concerns about the lack of reassurances over his future at the club and hit out at press "rumours" of an impending departure and discussions of potential candidates for his job.

Benitez has been linked with a switch to Juventus for months now while a raft of managers have been mentioned as possible replacements for the Liverpool hotseat should Benitez leave - or be pushed.

Liverpool's so-far disappointing season could get worse on Thursday if they fail to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit in their Europa League semi-final return meeting with Atletico Madrid at Anfield.

Benitez's side crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage and look like falling short of qualification for that tournament through the Premier League, despite the Spanish manager's infamous "guarantee" Liverpool would finish fourth.

Benitez insisted his focus is solely on the next match and not on his future, although he felt compelled to mention the lack of public support coming out of the Liverpool hierarchy in the wake of press speculation about possible future Liverpool managers.

"I don't like the (Juventus) rumours," Benitez said ahead of the Europa League tie. "I would like to see news in the press about trophies or goals or fantastic performances by players, but you cannot control everything.

"My future is (playing against) Athletico Madrid. We have to concentrate on this game and try to win because it's the best for the club.

"I have spent a year listening to names like Martin O'Neill, Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klinsmann and Frank Rijkaard (being linked with his job), but I've just kept doing my job.

"All my focus is on the next game, that's the future for me, but no one from the club has spoken to me about mine. For me the next game is always the most important and playing in a European final again would be massive for any club.''

swee! hope to see him leave at end of season! YES!!
