Default Olympus C-740uz or the Canon S1 IS???

i've been thinking of upgrading my Uzi... im wondering whether i should the c740uz or the S1... the S1 seems to be the better choice so far with IS (i'm impressed with IS), and the nice movie mode... but i'm torn... cause the c740uz is cheaper(tho the xD cards are hefty), and the camera seems to produce really good images, more detailed, less CA, and seems better at higher ISOs (comparing some internet photos that are not of the same conditions, so i'm might be wrong..)

what would u guys pick, and why??

Hmm...just a note...you're posting this in a CANON forum where most (if not all) are Canon users...it's likely you'll get a biased viewpoint.

My advice is, if you want to get unbiased viewpoint, post in one of the general forums, not here.

If you just need someone to help you make the decision to get the Canon S1, then let me help you...

let me give u a semi-biased view.
i would take canon powershot s1 is
y?

listed in terms of priority (1st to last)
-IS (trust me.. u really would find this super handy when u arent able to set out a tripod in time..which is usually e case for me..)
-uses CF card (i already have cf card)
-its a canon (using A70 now so more familiar with e interface)
-DIGIC chip with ISAPs
-vga quality video..(but its only for 9mins..*shrugs*)
-rotatable lcd (heh..like to do a lot of self-portraits ..so comes in handy)

cons about s1:
-for $800 i was expecting 4MP

Why not consider the Olympus C-750 UZ or the C-760 UZ?

The new C-760 UZ uses the newest image processor from Olympus, TruePic Turbo, and it would be as fast, if not faster than Digic which has being around for some time already.

Advantages of C-760 UZ:
Olympus is the founder of the ultra zoom range
New TruePic Turbo Processor
Smallest digital camera in the world featuring an optical 10x zoom
Super Macro mode lets you shoot from just 3cm away
ED lens to minimise CA
VGA Video Recording Mode with Sound
Larger 1.8" LCD Screen
RSP of $799 compared to S1 $949

Disadvantages
No Image Stabilizer
Not using AA Batteries
Not as wide: Zoom range (42mm to 420mm)
Not as bright at tele range
