Hi Frenz,
I might be getting the G3 from one of the Court's Superstore @$1199. So,how much you think I can sell my A80 set.Bought $600++ less than 1 month ago on impulse. Pls comment if my intention is not worth the extra $$ I have to spend on the G3. Thanks for reading. |

As a G5 and Ixus400 owner, here's my advice: The G5 and the A80 are very similiar in terms of performance, the differences are very mild. Primary differences: 1. G5 = 5MP, A80=4MP 2. G5 has the quick shutter adjustment rotational thingy, A80 doesn't 3. G5 have ext. flash mount provision, A80 doesn't 4. G5 have proprietry lithium ion battery and built in charger, A80 runs on AA batt. 5. G5 have manual focus adjustment, A80 has only center and 9 points focus. (The 9 point focus is really cool. Something G5 don't have. I love my ixus for it) 6. G5 has powerful stitching modes, up down left right... dunno abt A80. but my Ixus has only left -> right or right -> left. 7. G5 has remote control, A80 doesn't. Both cameras have provisions for add-on lens and lens adapter. If you have the extra cash, I rather you pay for the adapter and the cool lens you can play around with the A80. If not for the A80's "plastic" feel and its size compared to Ixus, and the close similiarities to G5, I would have bought it. In summary, not worth the money for G5 if you have the A80. Anyway, the G5 goes for $1020 at AP and A80 for $580 So I reckon you have to sell it somewhere below that price. |

Very helpful indeed. I'll reconsider and check again before buying the G3 or G5. Cheers. |

It works better than I thought. The Ixus 430 has basically the same hardware specs as the 400, except that i. it's cheaper, ii. has a print/share button, iii. Has the quick shot function. (turn off the LCD display in ixus 400 and you get the same thing) Heard hearsay that the 430 is using a cheaper CCD sensor (to explain for the cheaper pricing), but thats rumour anyhow. |

As for the lens converter, are u referring to the lens adapter or teleconvertor?? If it's the lens adapter, it doesn't block the flash, but you have the Japanese "peep show" effect (can't remember the term) when you do a total zoom out. As for the teleconverter, i dunno if it will block the flash. My advice would be bring you camera to test it out on the spot. Least you regret it. |
