Default Comparisons of the Pro1 with 300D kit lens

It is widely published that a bigger imaging chip with lower megapixels will give a better quality image than a smaller sized but higher megapixel imaging chip.

Can't wait to see the image quality comparison between the 8MP Pro1 and the 6MP 300D kit since pricing is quite close. Anyone care to post here??

There really is no comparison here.

Reviews of several 8MP cameras have shown that noise level is somewhat higher and more prone to purple fringing - the most notable one being the Sony 828. The Pro 1 fares better but still suffers from noise and purple fringing

As for sharpness, the Pro1 would probably be sharper (if compared with the 300D kit lens) due to more in-camera sharpening inherent in prosumer cameras.

The Pro1 is however still a very useful and sleek & discreet camera owing to its compactness and very handy for travelling - and on those days you don't feel like lugging a load around.
