I pretty sure that if money is not an issue, most will choose the 70-200mm F4 L ?

Not true....look at http://www.pbase.com/zevs/jennifer_brown and you will
see that 75-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM is so much better on concert photography
than a 70-200 f2.8L IS !!

hi,

I had the same question just 2 months back.. and finally bought my EF70-200 F4 L... there is no regret despite it's shorter range....

i just took some test shots and am just amazed at the sharpness and colour .... really live up to it's name...

and just because everybody everywhere were talking about the back or front focusing problem at the short 70 mm range.. i took a whole night yesterday just testing it.. and am glad to report i got a good copy..

good luck

Without a cropped 100% sized of the original image, it's premature to be prejudiced against the 70-200 F2.8 IS.

BTW, you can't judge sharpness of a photo by looking at a resized one.

I can definitely say that the 70-200 F2.8 IS is VERY much better than the 75-300 F4-5.6 IS. How I know? I have both of them.

75-300 IS USM won't stand a chance against the 70-200f4L. Performance wise, etc etc. So much so that the price difference and extra 100mm is not part of the equation.
