Hmm... since we are comparing our "equipment", here is mine

    Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz CPU (800Mhz FSB; HT-enabled)
Intel 875 chipset (Dell mobo though, so not much tweaking can be done)
    512MB memory (2 x 256MB thus dual-channel ~ slightly faster performance)
2 x 120GB SATA 7200rpm HDD (data on one; scratch on the other)
    Sony DVD+/-R DVD writer
    ATI Radeon 9800 graphics card

    Secondary PC
    Dell Dimension 8100
    Intel Pentium 4 1.8GHz CPU
Intel 850E chipset (not quite sure about this though)
384MB memory (if its 850 chipset, the memory config is 2 x 128MB + 2 x 64MB since RDRAM needs to work in pairs)
    DVD-R Writer + CD-ROM
    1 x 80MB HDD (most likely 5400rpm)
    NVidia GeForce4 graphics card
    Creative Audigy sound card

If you dun play games, it is fine to keep your present g400. Matox card is well known for crystal clear display. Well, it's best for video and 2D graphical one. I suggest you keep your card since you are not much into game.

Of coz, G400 is no way performance above 9600XT in 3D.

Why I need it? Well of course faster application. Sometimes it slows down when I do multiple images on PS. Anyway to overcome this?

    Thanks in advance.
Yes, u need more ram in this case when you open multiple images on PS and it slows down. I am not sure where you can get the RDram but you can call up at Fuwell, Cybermind, laser, Bell and asking for stock availability before going down. RDram is expensive now, make sure you get the correct ram (speed/spec) supported in your chipset.

thanks again! will check. Looks like going to spend nearly $800 for a pair of 512MB RDRAMs and 9600XT. Bigger hole in my pocket.

I will check but if I am not wrong my rams memory type is PC800 running @ 40ns or faster.

Guess my system is very dated.

    Specs:
AMD 1700+ with MSI nForce MB
    1.5GB DDR PC2100
    Maxtor 40GB
    ATI 9700 PRO 128MB
    Creative Audigy 2
    Samsung 172T LCD
    Lite-on 52x CD
    IOMEGA 24x12x24 CDRW
    Lite-on 8X DVD
Some Boston 2x1 digital sound system

I have been running this system rock-solid and unformatted for 2 yrs now! (A record for me)

last time my sister monopolise the entire PC...waited for 5 years then she finally able to clear off the space...then i used only $SGD1234 to set up a simple P4 system...initially i thought i needed a lot of stuff like the most powerful gfx cards/fastest processors/largest LCD screens/biggest HDD/etc...now realised that actually theres no need for so much. next on my hitzlist will be a laptop...
