    Default Question on IR Photography

    Guys,

    Stupid question :

I recently got a IR filter ie. the hoya R72. I took a couple of photos but its all red contrary to what i have seen. Some of the pics look green and yellow and blue.

How do i achieve that effect?

    Any tips??

Configure your White balance pointing to blue sky and take IR shots with the white balanced set. Do some processing and it will look like snow.

OK pal, first tell me what's your cam model?

What you need to do is follow the steps:

    1) With your IR filter on, take a custom White balance pointing to the sky (Not the sun!)

    2) Using your Previous IR White balance set, now take some IR shots with your IR filter on and with a tripod (becoz of slow shutter speed)

    3) In PS, Do auto level and auto contract and auto color in PS.

    4) Goto Channel Mixer and swap the Red and Blue Channel. Meaning under red channel with Red souce set to zero and Blue Source set to 100%. Under Blue Channel, set blue Channel to zero whereas Set Red to 100%.

You will get the correct output the one you wanted. Hope this helps.

--> can custom white balance with 300D/10D due to the long exposure needed at all?
