Any reports on air quality in spore? around Jurong? Clementi?
    Very concerned.
i think the fastest way to improve air quality, as can be seen from beijing's olympic experience, is to ban all cars.

migrate lor... so paranoid. Go to new zealand and sit admid the natural greenery where there's no such industrial behemoths spewing forth poisonous gas to kill you....and get maw to death by a grizzly bear.

anyway, fyi, there's a reason why flares are so high in the sky. Engineers calculate what is the maximum amt of heat that can be generated from the maximum amt of hydrocarbon that is going to be burnt and hence set the height. Folks on the ground will not be exposed to harmful radiation.
You are not going to breathe in any special gas that's for sure....

Have u been below one when it starts flaring?

There are reason why workers needs to keep away and work halted for a certain radius around such flare stacks (that's what they are called) when flaring occurs due to heat generated.

Experienced once before, scorching heat even though was at a "safe zone". Even then that flaring isn't a 1/3 as big as this , even though was towering almost 100m up.

And no scientist can guarantee the resultant vapor is non toxic in the long term. If u work in this industry u should know the volume involves. Can amount to tonnes at one go.

U sure no special gas is released to surroundings?

10-20 years later then find out, wouldn't it be too late?

and its not like it burned everyday, 24/7.

and the emission from vehicles which most ppl are exposed to on a everyday basis is probably going to exert a stronger ill-effect (in the long term as stated by you) as compared to this.
