    Default Closeup filter Vs Tele-Converter

    Would like to know more about the differences between this two and the pros and cons for both of them. Is the 2x TC a good idea for shooting bird or something far if I dun wan to invest in a 600mm lens but a 300mm lens?

    You will need to take note of the few stop drop when using 2x convertor before buying it

    For instance for Canon 2x :

    EF300mm f2.8L -> 600mm f5.6
    EF300mm f4 -> 600mm f8

    Default Image quality

    Beside loss of light, 2x TCs will also cause loss in image quality. It depends on you whether you can trade the image quality for the reach. A 1.4x TC seems imposes very minimum quality loss. Check the image output from various combination and ask advice from those who're using the lens you planed to buy.

    Thanks chrisleng, will this f-stop reduce be indicating on the metering? Or I have to compensate it by myself?

    Thanks a lot for your explanation.
