    Default Changing lens

    Is it a MUST to switch off the dslr before we change lens?
    will anything happen if we don't switch off?
    my friend has been bugging me with this qn.
    Shooting today anyone?

    no.

    its just a matter of personal preference but i usually off before changing.

    camera won't be damaged if u change while its on.
    Photography is about seeing without a camera.

    Its claimed that dust would be attracted onto the sensor if the you don't switch off due to the electrostatic charge. Personally, I always switch off every time I change any part that involve electrical contacts, be it the battery, grip, memory card, lens, etc.

    Nope, I don't bother switching off whether it's changing lens, battery, CF card or removing the flash from the hotshoe.

    turning it off is better, because of electrostatics attracting dust.

    if you do not turn off, there is no problem either. you can even try to take pictures with no lens on, it will work.

    don't think there's any harm, but switching off is just a flick of ur fingers....up to prefference i guess
    Nikon D700, N24-70 f2.8, N70-200 f2.8, Sigma 50mm f1.4.
