Default New Here, need help in accessories.

    Hi,

Hope you guys out there can help me on this, Thanks a million in advance. am totally new to DSLR. After looking thru the forum had decided to buy the Pentax K-x duel kit (18-55 + 55-300mm). Guess its the best for me to start wif. If im not wrong, it dont come with Bag, so what kind of Bag should i look into to fit in my stuff. can let me know the model and if possible the price (dont wanna be chop like carrot). Batt wise, what is the best rechargable out there. Any other accessories that i should or must get? Will use it very often so dont think need a DC, maybe a DB.

    Regards
    HJ

    Hello...welcome.

Bags wise, you may want to visit Cathay Photo, MS Color, K13 or TKFoto. They have a variety for you to choose from. Pricing wise, they are pretty ok. So just work within your budget. Accessories wise, since you have decided on a dry box, it should be fine. Maybe just get a blower, lens cleaning tissue, lens pen and a filter for your lens will do. For batteries, you can try the Sanyo Eneloop which is highly recommended by others.

    welcome to clubsnap...!

Firstly, try not to create your own acronyms like DC and DB... At first I thought it was "Direct Current" and "Dead Body".... hahahaha.
It's also a dual kit, not a duel (i.e. fighting) kit.

Your choice of bag for the camera + lens is quite varied. It really depends on what type of bag you're after, and what your budget is.
I like Lowepro bags for the value-for-money factor. You get a good camera bag at a decent price. There are numerous other alternatives of course.
Names like Kata, Thinktank, Billingham, Crumpler come to mind... there are many others.

    Search through the equipment forums.
Camera bags are very personal choices. It's hard to recommend.

you know your equipment and what you want to carry along with it, go visit those shops that sell camera bags and see for yourself which bag will cater to your needs!

also, try to think if you need to upgrade in the future, for the meantime try to settle on a "not-so-expensive" bag coz for certain once u add gears that bag now will be shelved.

    based on experience....

If you had hung round and read the threads in the Pentax section here, you'll realise that Manly is one of the shops mentioned as giving a very good price for the K-x.

My suggestion is that unless you are sure of the need for and pricing of additional accessories, buy just the camera and lens(es) first. Other stuff can buy later.

loads of bags can hold your dual kit and camera.

got so many range, for example, lowepro should have something in the region of $30-$40.. if you use cheaper brands can get for $20 perhaps.. if you want to use billingham will go up up and way to $300 thereabouts? can't remember singapore price.

like others have said, go to shop. in such a market full of variety, this is like asking: i want a 4 seater, what car should i buy?

rechargeables - reading around would have told you that imedions (maha) and eneloops (sanyo) are recommended not because they have high capacity, but because they do not experience discharge as fast as normal NiMHs.

dry cabinet requires a lot less maintenance than dry box. cheers.

also, you might want to expand lens collection - if you think you might bring out more than jsut the dual kit, or more than just 2 lenses and a camera, then you have to take that into consideration. nothing wrong with bringing out a half empty bag for now, i do it all the time.

Maybe, but why would you want to get from them? It's likely that their prices are higher.
