This is a set from the series I shot at the abovementioned event, this is an entirely new sport to me (i.e., never done it before) - bouldering, which involved climbing without any ropes of any form, while using little "grips" installed, called "hold(s)" on the climbing surface. The climbing surfaces range from 15 degrees negative incline (you hang off the wall) to 45 degrees negative (you REALLY hang off the wall), or you're suspended horizontally FROM the roof.
Plenty of grit, brawn, guts, tenacity in this sport - fantastic photographic opportunity. ![]() ![]() The only way you want to go is up Hang on tight Just an inch more... ARGH! Grit and bare it While you were waiting... Fingers Look after your 'mate while he's on the ladder Chalkbag Slippin' on I'm gonna get you soon... BoulderActive 2004 Chill out time Flying Dream Got it! Up the Roof Analysing the climb again Where are the other holds for this route? Just missed! ![]() I shall not be defeated Last edited by sehsuan; 14th March 2004 at 11:14 PM. |

Time is aplenty for this climber - he still has over 2 minutes of his 4 minute time limit to reach the top hold of Route 4 that he was climbing yesterday during the NUS BoulderActive bouldering competition. Below him are the spotters who are to direct falling climbers onto the mattresses for safety. |

thank you ammox - that's me alright. if you think climbing up with the camera was a little crazy, you should have seen the videographper climbing up with a video camera - he was a lot more at ease, since he's a climber himself
![]() actually, i also spotted peterlim while i was perched high up. was having fun time and a hidden agenda of spotting clubsnappers from my high vantage point too ![]() |

Hi Sehsuan,
While I have enjoyed your mini series here, a point of concern came to my mind. For some shots which you shot directly above the contestants, would you not have posed as a distraction for them as well? regards |

Being a climber myself, i must say that your shots are really of high standard in Singapore.
Great series, and you have captured the 'moments' well... ![]() I hope the NUS climbing comm have access to your pics, otherwise it will be a waste...
