i like the tonal contrast between the two ladies in the first pic... good timing also to capture the *lick*. somehow i am reminded of maggie thatcher....
![]() interesting side profile in the 2nd pic... just find the background too much in focus and therefore a tad distracting. |

for the 2nd pic, any advise on how to post process the bg to reduce the amount of distraction? i kinda like that pic.

can try lasso-ing the main subject in ps, inverting the selection and applying a gaussian blur to the bg.

yeah... lasso-ing is tough and almost impossible with a mouse. wonder if there is a way using a digitising pen instead...

you can actually try using the pen tool. set the mode to paths and click as many anchor points as you like. unfortunately, it is a very linear kind of selection so you need to do many points to get a curve effect. and when you're done selecting, right click and make selection.
