I don't keep track, but i know its quite an amount as my c.f.o has given me a verbal warning that even her wedding ring doesn't cost as much as i have spend.

I estimate the average amateur in Singapore will have somewhere between S$15k and S$20k, although that's just the dehumidifying equipment used to store lenses. By the time you factor in buying a bigger house or a warehouse to store the extra stuff, that really does start to move into the six to seven figure territory.

Then there's the S$2k daily electricity bill to fund all the spotlights that keeps their gear spotlit to best effect - haven't you heard the saying that there's no point buying a pro camera only to light it with a cheap $1k spotlight?

So it's all peanuts what you're saying, really, Ian.

You forget to mention the multi-million dollar class 1 cleanroom cum biosafety level 4 darkroom or laboratory for them to clean the DSLR sensor and change lenses too.

I never really total up the cost of my gear. I know Photog is not a cheap hobby. I only spend when it's absolutely necessary.

For sea water protection, I use plastics for umbrellas which normally can be found in front of office/mall building during rainy days.

Haha I shredded 2 stigma lenses that I had to test. Both died from the AF gearsets leaving themselves in pieces after short periods on an F4s and F5. Ris Low be damned hehe, dat bannana was innocent I say.

So true Jed, that spotlights got to be at least a polychromatic unit with 64K colours and inbuilt CT metering to produce just the perfect WB too. Oh and variable angle and brightness. Sounds like they need.... ahem, a varilite!

Yes but I've heard that if you have a pro camela body u also need the holy trinity of lense and at least 11 gitzo tripods and markins head as they are better than those crapola arca swisscheese / graf / linhof abominations. Of course you need also 10 krumpla bags including the doggie bag to carry your pro camela gear in lah...

Hey guys, why get so worked up over an opinion by the chao Ang Moh from Hell, it's just another opinion, lah. Each to his own. Having lived & worked in Australia for 7 yrs before and another 2 yrs+ working with many countless ang mohs here in SG, in my opinion majority are si beh hao lian, gong juay juay joh boh lan i.a.w. NATO.

So what if SG boys are A.S.K. they can flound their wealth & show off, at least we dun have to wait for the Dole to support us here.

My gears are D300s & D700, & 10 DX & FX lenses probablr worth ard $15k and I'm just a noob Neh neh neh neh neh!
