![]() captured this while strolling in bugis village. Not sure about others, but somehow I feel that religion and sex being put so close kinda make me have the feeling of repelling or something. Not saying that sex is not holy or what :P just the combination is interesting in my eyes. ![]() What do you think? hehe. does this pic work?Last edited by vonvonz; 12th March 2004 at 05:11 PM. |

Thanks for all your comments. I am glad that it was viewed in a non-offending way, understanding the meaning that i wish to convey through the photo.zerofour, I am sorry if my idea of the photo offended you, I have no intention to offend anyone in any religion as that is the way it was on the street. I did not put the statue of the buddha near the shop, although I composed the elements together in a frame, because I find it weird/interesting to see them together. I'm a buddhist myself, I won't find it offending, just find it weird to have such situation of them being so close together. anyway, IMO, religion is a very sensitive topic, to each his own since everyone has their own beliefs. Don't mean to poke fun at any religion. Just pointing out what could happen in our life.woohoo, sorry for the long essay ![]() Last edited by vonvonz; 13th March 2004 at 01:17 AM. |

then it will be chaotic!
it'll be so scary if all is composed into one single photograph, but at the same time if it's done good/provocative enough, it'll be the photo of the year, or maybe a lifetime. ![]() I think all these topics are really touchy, i thought a lot about this pic each time i wanted to show it, personally i find it contradicting, but i am afriad that it might tick people off or people might just think that it's nothing. touchy |

well, at least the photo would have evoked some form of emotion in the viewer... not every photo can achieve that. i guess all photographers will have to grapple with this issue some time or other, and try not to transgress the "Out-Of-Bounds markers".

the photo seems a little loose in the framing - but it's a good try though.

it's not easy to step out of the 'safe zone' of issues, sometimes takes courage to do it. it's always better to do it and know the consequence later, not doing it blindly.

I think as photographers we need to be sensitive to others' feelings, particularly in such sensitive issues as religion. There are somethings I would not attempt, purely out of consideration of others. Your pic I feel is rather touch and go… certainly I would not put a pig in the same picture as a mosque or synagogue.
and I'm not even religious. |
