Not sure abt Nikon ...
Used to own a FZ-1 (firmware upgrade to have apeture, shutter priority) for a few months.
More "fun" factor as easy to use and snap whenever i love to, easily while driving as the IS really works well at lower speed.
Fast and sharp lens with 12X optiocal zoom. the apeture, shutter priority gives you some degree of control ... if preferred to.

Even though 2MP, takes many pretty sharp pictures and print out on 5R, no problem. Read somewhere that someone printed 8R with 2MP and looks great.
It could be better with higher pixels if u need more cropping. No hotshoe buy i got a external slave flash.

Used to own a 885 and sold it away shortly after I bought it. I have had a frustrating experience with this cam. The red was over-saturated and worst, the start-up was damn slow. If u use a 128MB and above card, from the moment it switch on, it will take about 12 sec for the lens to start extend. If u are not concerned about these two weaknesses then the rest of its features are not so bad.
