The test lap times of McLaren from Valencia does not look promising. Looks like another catch-up for the team from Woking again...

I tip McLaren for pole position on Saturday, but Sunday's race probably won by Alonso or Massa.

The F1 circus is going to start again

Hopefully we'll see the return of Massa as the winner of Bahrain GP, also the return of Schumi just behind Massa. And as I am feeling generous, hope to see Alonso as the last podium finisher.

And also Slice Pork to be 1st....... to DNF

However dont bet too much, especially for pole position. Pole position this year depends on the following factors:

    - In Q3, the top ten have to start the race with the tyres that they used to set their fastest lap, meaning if you qualify with a lap time set on soft tyres, you are compromised on the first stint. Why so? As most tracks have very little rubber laid on the track before the race, soft tyres degrade faster and have a performance drop off. This even more noticeable on tracks that are rarely used throughout the year, e.g. Australia, Singapore, Bahrain, KL, etc.

    - Knowing that, it would be optimum to set your fastest lap on the harder tyre, but of course there will be others trying their luck to stay ahead by setting on the soft tyre.

    - Hence pole position may not be so easy to guess.

Race tactics: If car A is stuck behind car B in the race, car A may op to pit early so that he can go onto new tyres and set faster lap times on fresh rubber while car B is still doing his "normal" lap times. As there is no refueling this year, we will likely see cars that just done their pit stops doing their fastest lap times.

I wanna bet on the new teams to **** up. Their HRT car has not even turned a wheel. We may see smaller teams crashing into the big four teams.

i think there are predominantly 3 sub-categories in F1; 'Top of the Pack', 'Mid Fielders' and 'Newbies'. don't think there is much to talk about the 'Top of the Pack' or even the 'Mid Fielders'... we already know who the usual suspects will be.

what is interesting is to see how these 'Newbies' perform on race condition. it would be even more interesting if these 'Newbies' can last the entire race distance while the top runners suffers DNF.

Perhaps I would like to rank how i think the different car performances will be at the first four races (Bahrain, Australia, Malaysia & Shanghai)

In their groups seperated by a blank line:
    1. Ferrari F10
    2. McLaren MP4-25
    3. Red Bull RB6 (Red Bull should be equal on par with the McLaren or Ferrari)

(Mercedes are about 0.3s off the pace, subject to a new diffuser in Bahrain)
    4. Mercedes MGP-W01

(in the next group, BMW Sauber or Force India could be a surprise)
    5. Williams FW32
    6. BMW Sauber C29
    7. Force India VJM03
    8. Renault R30
    9. Toro Rosso STR5

(this group of newbies, i expect them to be about 4 to 5 secs per lap slower, HRT will need friday practice 1 to shakedown their cars, straightline tests, etc.)
    10. Lotus T127
    11. Virgin VR-01
    12. HRT (Chassis not yet named)
