Home Shopping Network, ShopNBC, and QVC all sell cameras.

In fact, Olympus all but launched their E-450 dSLR on QVC.

The thing about using a shopping channel is that you can sell thousands of products in an hour, especially when they have multiple, interest-free payments and a low introductory price. The country is so big and so many people are so remote that they can only see those kinds of things on their t.v.

What's crazy is that my adoptive mum knows the hosts by name.

In Taiwan, they have this on a dedicated TV channel and I saw before Samsung and Sony Dslrs being sold via this means.

could be because the price of the camera and the instalment prices are not so scary for the features it brings and from the ad, there is no limit to the colors.

i wonder if such a method will work for cameras like D3x, 1D Mk4 and so on..

They try to sell US$1600 watches and similar prices in jewelry, so they could try to sell mid-level cameras, but mostly there is an upper limit to what people are willing to spend and what the networks are willing to gamble buying and selling. Specialised equipment is almost never sold.
