if you make a mistake/camera makes mistake in metering or under challenging lighting conditions, custom-image can hurt your output..

also, no camera can judge for you white/gray/black points automatically, which is a critical aspect to obtain correct tone and color in a pic imo. custom image cannot fix a mis-placed histogram. i also wouldn't want it to mess with my saturation/contrast/key etc until i first get right the basic white/grey/black levels..
Great post! And great opinions!! The sooner newbies realize this, the more comfortable they will feel using a DSLR out of its Auto Mode!

    I just got a white KX 18-55, 50-200, FA43 today !

Now I need to know what I need to do with the warranty, where and how do I register them?

The FA43 is seriously a WOW!

It's in one of the menu option, under custom settings, I definitely remember seeing it there when i browsed through all the settings.

Hi all i just got the k-x yesterday.
At first i tried using some new energizer and duracell batteries the camera could not power on, it only did so after using the given lithium batteries.
I thought the k-x could accept alkaline batteries as well?

Also,is there a shortcut to using the dial to change ISO setting?like canon cams where there is a dedicated ISO button, just press and turn the dial.

There's a battery settings on Menu -> Tools (spanner icon) -> 3 -> Select Battery
Perhaps yours is not at Alkaline or Auto-Detect

I'm also very new with K-X(bought 4dys ago),don't think there's a dial control for ISO settings. I feel that the button on the right of OK button is good enough to select the ISO.

You might want to update your firmware to version 1.01 first, it handles battery detection much better. Check your settings make sure battery type is set to Alkaline or Auto-detect. Wait maybe one minute before inserting new batteries.

AFAIK there's no dedicated ISO button on the K-x, which was quite an annoyance since I've been used to using the Ok button as the ISO button on my K10D (doesn't work with the K-x). However I've found that I can simply use Sv mode (sensitivity priority) anyway since most of the time I don't need P-shift, so these days when the available light drops I use Sv mode instead of P mode, and can immediately just set ISO with the dial.

Yes, the cam can function exactly as you want it to. If your ISO is set to the fixed setting (and not auto), if you press the ISO button, you can use either the left/right arrow buttons or the dial to change your ISO setting.

I think the quick way to change ISO is pressing right arrow and turn the dial. Thats what I do, but the direction it changes kinda opposite than what I want it to be,
