I'm not sure how would you define "old" but the EOS 300D is released in 2003.

300D (or Digital Rebel in USA) was the milestone of affordable DSLR - announced in August 2003. This is the first DSLR (with kit lens) that carries a price tag below US$1,000.

And 300D comes with an EF-S 18-55 kit lens which is the beginning of the EF-S line from Canon.

Since then, there are 350D, 400D, 450D and current 500D being launched. So, in terms of generation, 300D is the great-great-grandfather of current model.

well for less then $300 for second hand 300D, its compatible even with the 70-200 F2.8 IS

For those operating on a low budget, its pretty okay even as a wedding camera. the Auto function is pretty good in my opinion.

For those who need a second camera, need not look further though do try to get with the grip.
You wont see me much less remember me but i am the guy who makes you look good.

It depends on your definition of old. I find my 400D old. However a friend of mine doesn't think so.

300D is really old, forget it you have intension of buying it second hand.

Early 300D models (non black) version are "made in taiwan" perhaps that why they can bring the price down back then?

I'm just glad that my 300D black is still working and with a new Canon DPP version, I can even change picture styles during Post process on my old canon RAW files...

i'm like lawls. u got a 70-200 f2.8 and i couple it up with a old dslr... i used the 350d before, so it shld be relatively close. as far as i can tell, noise and etc etc comfirm not as good as the current tech. might as well try get a second hand 450d, or 40d if u want. i think bns price is like 500 for 450d, 700 plus for 40d

Still have mine - a silver one.
Hardly use it now... but occas use it like a PnS with the kit lens or with the 18-200IS. With the kit lens I also let my little boy experiment with it. Only thing is the old kit lens got no IS and he moves too much so shots often blur.
But it still definitely can take good pix, weird WB issues aside.
