Default Some Insect Shots at AH

Below are some insect shots taken at AH on last Sat. Saw authoryeo, Sgt. Pepper and xdivider there in the late morning.

Plain Tiger


Some kind of moth

2nd shot of the plain tiger is just amazing! Shadow from the upper-left lighting creates a very natural details. Well done.

You didnt use your 100mm macro for those butt's shots, did you?

Excellent shots, as always. The 2nd shot of the plain tiger is just breathtaking. Spot on exposure. Tempting me to go back there again (something I haven't done for a long time).

No. I used 70-200mm L IS + 500D.

Little Qns here. How close were the butterflies? Does the 500D reduce the MFD of the lens?

Anyone ever try using 180mm macro lens with 500D closeup diopter. Is it good .please gave some advise .

Using 500D, the working distance is abt 1 foot. Not sure 500D will reduce the MFD. So far I am very satisfied with the 500D result.

No, have not try yet. Why do you want to use 180mm macro lens with 500D closeup diopter I find macro lens works better with extension tubes.
