Anyway, for my photography assignments, I usually scan the negatives into digital. And then print out those that I want after editing. So the benefits of digital (real-time output) doesn't bothers me. |

Film has been around for long time and matured hence nothing much tat curious to talk about. I thought there was a poll recently and 70% here are film user? I shoot film then send to process + scan to CD at total $5.50 wif lab. Add film cost $2.50 Total about $8 only for general shooting. After I gather enough nice collection, I pick those I want and develop into 4R prints at 30-40cts. Cheap cheap. No post editing or scanning for me, let the lab have the headache. If I somehow need a DSLR, it will come one day. The day will somehow be like notebook vs desktop where price of notebook is about same as desktop. Buying technology alot depends on personal need at the very moment. If there are reason to go digital go digital and not becos ppl around you use digital (it may be a valid reason..). Otherwise it's like IBM thinkpad model I use to sell $13k a piece last time to customers and now saw them 2nd hand at $100 and yet people dunwan. Ofcos these notebook are still capable of doing 70% of notebook task like wordprocessing, web browsing and email. However, noone is really interested and rather to buy a few thousand $ new notebook. So, if you buy digital and not using it enuf, your technology will outdate, your LCD may become dim (I think the lifespan stated avg 5yrs?), your CCD became not sensitive? I dunno, but then I think when tech advances, it will reach a day where digital is mature enuf where the feature produce with a 10yrs old digital cam and new cam are very close. Then it's more a feature vs feature rather then technology something like film camera. A old manual camera produce the same result as modern film slr other then additional technology to help you in speed or conveniences.
Digital or film, they are good for each individual. Buy it if u like, use and be happy. If film satisfy you, use it ![]() Now I mainly use EOS50e for quick job, less thinking session. Pentax KX/Ricoh for casual where I have penty of time to shoot. FED-5B for quietness and also I like the len. Not a dcam vs film fame or comparision. Just my own view and doesn't worth 0.002 cts Most happy it what you like to use.Last edited by whoelse; 1st March 2004 at 01:52 PM. |

frankly speaking im getting tired of using film. really dying to go digital coz want 2 control the post processing all by myself and for the FLM and for other technical issues...; waiting for lab to proces the film is a waste of time as far as i experience it ;-) but i havent started working yet so still have to wait n wait n wait forthe $ to roll...arg.

nice insight from whoelse...well...some say film cheaper some say digital cheaper...i have never shot digital at all so
anyway...i think the 'friendship' between film and digital will still goin strong for a future decade (isit too long? ) before either one (might be digital) steps on its fella's head have fun shooting! |

i shoot film too. film is basic and digital a bonus... for my photography that is. others might differ.
film camera with Provia 100F is my choice. i would not go to a great location without a set up like this. |

Click here ->Maybe there are some answers in here?
![]() ![]() ![]() How many users how there actually shoot velvia and look using lightbox and loupe? Not that many. How many concluded 'good' base on others' opinions? plentiful. I always read this len is better then that len and quite surprisely most of the time when I shoot them side by side and compare they are quite identical for similar performance len esp. prime, brand vs brand etc. Sometime marketing speech or even hearsay will became believes and then conclusions. Noone will care what we use, only we who use care. And post editing has been a 'must' for digital. This itself is more headache for me. I rather pay $5.50 for my film to be process, and scanned by lab. Then I must stress, this is my own opinion and does't worth 0.0002cts. Last edited by whoelse; 2nd March 2004 at 03:40 AM. |

Film shooter here. Digital is a waste of money for my needs. Nothing comes close to Velvia. And projecting it on a large screen... wow!
