I find that images tend to be a bit warm, and slightly underexposed. For this image, I have given a +1/3 EV exposure compensation. Still a little dark. No further adjustments, just resized in PS.

This is actually the same problem that I had when I was using the F5 too.. I found that the 1005sensor 3D color matrix is a tad conservative and tends to under by at least 1/3-2/3 of a stop.

Being aware of this.. in ambient light..

Have noticed this tendecy to underexposed by -0.3 EV consistently with the D70 too. If you are the post-processing type.....you will just have to bump it up later. For me, I consciously add +0.3 EV in all my shots now.

Looks exactly like my G1 images. Not even close to Provia in low light, but that's understandable.

You can consider setting a custom curve in the camera... assuming the D70 allows the use of custom curves. You can then adjust the mid-tones for instance, without affecting the highlights.

You might find situations where doing a +EV compensation fixes your shadows/mid-tones but blows out the highlights.
