Default Question about D70 for DSLR owners

I got a hands on with D70 just now, and have a question for the other DSLR owners out there.

When I set the focus to AF-S with continuous film advance, then focus lock and recompose, after the first shot the camera refocuses on whatever is under the focus sensor, so that all the subsequent shots are not focussed on what I had originally locked on, even though I was still half pressing the shutter. Is this normal with the other Nikon AF DSLRs?

I believe his intention take the same image or item on burst mode..

If you are shooting in AUTO or in one of the creative modes.. the AF will do something called close-subject priority focus mode. This doesnt happen in P,S,A or M.. the reason why I asked what mode..

I was in P mode, not the creative modes.

yes it does, most nikon( from my knowledge) does tat.

cause after the picture is taken it will refocus again.
if you wan to aviod that you can:
set the AE-L/AF-L button to have at least AF-L, holod on to the button when you hold down your shutter on continuous shot.
alternative, switch your camera to manual focus mode =p after you have focus on your subject, then the camera will continous firing at the fastest support frame rate.

cheers.

Thanks. Guess I prefer the simplicity of my FM2...

Page 71 in the manual says:

"In single-servo AF (AF-S), focus will remain locked between shots as long as
the shutter-release button is kept pressed half way, allowing several photo-
graphs in succession to be taken at the same focus setting. Focus will also
remain locked between shots while the AE-L/AF-L button is pressed."

Maybe you released the shutter too much between shots?

Nope. Even when I held it down for a burst of shots, the camera paused to refocus after the first shot and then continued firing. Only when I press the AE-L/AF-L does the focus lock.

Anyway it's no big deal. Just something I thought was counter-intuitive.
