    jus fyi, i personally do conduct tutorial class almost every evening at different venue, usually would be at any hokkien cafe 'aka' ko~pi~tiam, ...... first lesson: conversation when placing order.. 'carlsberg'='ong bo' 'tiger'='lau hor' , etc....

    How about some nearly extinct latin? Its fun learning the roots of English.

    root of english is latin? oh. i thot most parts of english came from german?

    Since English is our 1st language, my personal favorite for a 2nd language would be Mandarin.

    took French 1 in NUS and got C+...
    that was like a year ago.
    but still interested in that language though forget most of the stuff already.
    i guess the difficulty when learning foreign language would be their vocab.
    Like for French, they have conguations of a root word for I (je), you[informal](tu), he/she(il/elle), you[formal](vous), they(ils/elles), us(nous) plus present and past tense...

    If given a choice I'll learn Teochew (my dialect), Hokkien and Malay.

    That's like
    French can be consider easy until you try German, in spite of English is a Germanic language.

    Languages that came from latin are the romance languages namely Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French. English is a Germanic language though, IIRC, 50% of English vocab came from latin.

    My 3rd language, Cantonese, i believe is A1 standard. Totally fluent in speaking, writing & reading it.

    I just starting taking swedish language not too long ago.

    I would say vietnamese since vietnam is another emerging asian market and there's quite a number of vietnamse locally.

    I find Japanese a very happy and jovial language to hear, followed by the romantic Italian.

    I doubt anyone picked up one of the most difficult languages on earth - Greek.
