I second what ChocoQQ said. You seem to be the first to have it in hand here. Mind poisoning the rest of us on its cost and your first hand impressions so far? :P

PS: As well as where you got it from?

    sent u both a pm.
in my opinion, the af is fast and accurate. even in low lights.
nice colours and the glass is sharp.
took few pics at low lights with 3200 iso and still look good on my 27" imac screen.
to me, it's good value and i'm xtremely happy with both the 28 and 50 mm.

i bought the 28mm unit today, last piece at ms colour.
    excellent lens, excellent ISO performance.
as shane said, even ISO 3200 is very usable.
AF is fast enough for general shooting. (otherwise there's still the snap option)
almost as small as the 24-72mm lens unit so still very compact.
now looking for a good 40.5mm protection filter.

this is what i bought the GXR for!

the 24-72mm is still useful as a secondary unit, i guess.

I've been playing with cameras for quite awhile.
    Owned 450d, gf1 and ricoh grd1 and 3.
And now GxR. Sold the rest and kept my grd3 and gxr.
Must say the gxr and grd3 gives me the most satisfaction in photography.
    Just my opinion of coz

Thanks guys for sharing the info! Strongly considering it now. Only drawback is zhaowei's update on buying the last piece... haha. Selling out so fast ah?

PS: Steve Huff's review on the Ricoh seemed to suggest that it's not good for recording video. While video is not a BIG must for me (I already have the Sony NEX for that), it will still be a bonus for times when I need it. So if I may ask those of you who already have a GXR, is the video capabilities of the Ricoh GXR as poor as what some reviews seem to be suggesting?

They said they didn't get many pieces... I guess the GXR is still not very well known here?

Anyway I heard John 3:16 has stock, better call up to check asap if you are keen!

sim4nee: Nice looking pics (and model as well )

Have owned the GXR for a couple of days now. A few quick impressions:

    - Build quality and handling is superb. Most of the settings can be accessed easily.

    - Image quality (using the 28mm module) is superb as well. There is noticeable noise at higher ISOs but even without noise reduction it's still within acceptable limits (esp for a camera of this size). The shallow DOF is excellent.

    - The live view gets noisy under moderately low light conditions. Was initially taken back by this, but thankfully the end image is *much* cleaner compared to what the live view would suggest (what a relief!).

    - Focusing (with the latest firmware) is snappy in good light, but there is a bit of hunting when lighting gets poor. Still, nothing that I can't live with (and probably on par if not better than most other PnS).

    - Shutter noise is *very* quiet, with an option to turn it off completely I believe.

    - Still unused to the ISO values that is used with Auto ISO. Unlike most of my previous cameras, Ricoh uses unconventional ISO values and I end up lots of ISO metadata for my pics (But it is a good thing practically as it allows the camera to use the lowest ISO available for each setting).

    - LCD auto dim is ON by default, and I found it annoying, since the brightness of the LCD varied significantly even though I was just panning around in the same room. I personally preferred it off.

    - White saturation mode under playback is a feature that I missed from my dSLR and missing from many of the other large sensor compacts that I own. So it's refreshing to see that Ricoh has recognised its usefulness and included it in.

    - Unable to attach filters to the lens (without additional adaptors according to the salesperson). Personally I'm protective of my lens and usu opt for a UV filter, but it appears such an option is not possible on the 28mm (and the 50mm I presume)? Please enlighten me if you know a way.

That's just it for now. Really hoping I can endear myself to this camera!

Is that so? I'm using the 28mm module, and the lens actually extend beyond the filter thread when the camera is turned on. Does that happen for the 50mm?

Hi I have just confirmed, both the 28mm and 50mm fits 40.5mm filters. No adapters required. I guess you "mis-looked".

Hi. May I know how much you paid for your 28mm and where you bought it from?
    Thanks

    Hi

I just bought my gxr body + 28mm from SLR last thursday.

Have been playing with the camera. The image is good, AF is quite fast in good light. I am quite happy with this camera as it is quite compact.

I realized i have some issues with the MF. Not sure whether you have it.

    1) While adjusting the MF distance through the focus ring, sometimes it will hang at a certain distance like between 5m to infinity, unless i turn it very fast. I wonder why cos this is supposed to be electrical adjusting.

    2) Also, I did another test, I prefocused with spot AF on an object and capture a photo. The photo is shown to be in focus. Then I switched to MF to see the focus distance (about 3m). I adjusted the MF to 20cm and then adjusted back to the same point (about 3m). I pressed the shutter again on the same object with the same distance. I realized the photo is not in focus. This does not happen everytime but it happens regularly.

I wonder have anyone face the same problem?

Seems a good buy at SLR. Was quoted $626 for the basic unit which consists of the 28-300mm module. If one is to add on the 24-72mm module, it would cost $1xxx plus. mmm... I am getting poisoned by this as I saw the colours . . .
