Cool My take on R.I.M. 2 ...

Two great series of photos had been presented by Harlequin and skfoo for our Research In Motion adventure last week. I now present thee, my humble attempts

Singing on its perch

I and Harlequin spotted a rather large group of Pacific Swallows swarming a particular region. Our patience in blending in and observing flight patterns paid off with the discovery of their favourite landing zone! Here's one of the inhabitant singing happily while its two "admirers" snapped on just meters away from their perch, as happy as this little one if you ask me!

Expect the unexpected

My fellow photogs scrambled to the sudden arrival of a blue-tailed bee-eater "munching" on a huge arse wasp it caught in mid air! Without much thought and the inability for me to "zoom out", I fired off knowingly that I was unable to fit the bird fully into my viewfinder. As chngpe01 once said, the ability to "expect the unexpected" is one of the key of success in nature photography.

Welcome to Munia 'R' Us

A merry flock of scaly-breasted Munia landed on a bush within our sight. Hey, they seem to be enjoying the evening sun!

A habit hard to kick ...

Our day was about to end when a case of deja-vu surfaced. An overly adventurous juvenile white-bellied sea eagle, just like the Brahminy Kite the day before, decided to swoop down for a closer look at the bunch of strange looking fellas below. It came so close to the ground that my viewfinder was soon filled up with its underside. This is the best shot I managed before it took to the skies again. Raptors nowadays are getting real adventurous!

Its been a tough, tiring but really fun R.I.M. last week, so until the next R.I.M. Here's yours truly signing off!

The swallow picture brings back memories of ant bites, thirst and sticky shirts...That's a very good shot of the Pacific Swallow.

Nice captures. No. 3 especially stands out. Beautiful colours. It would be a great shot if the other two birds were facing your direction. Nevertheless, a very good series.

I agree with all who said that RIM is fun! Looking forward to the next one...

Agree with Sgt Pepper, the Munia shot is excellent and next come the swallow.

Well done.

As for the Bee Eater, I find the background too messy and would prefer a full body too, it just my personal preference.

Cheers

Thank you Sgt Pepper and chngpe01 for thy input and kind comments

chngpe01: I agree with your deduction on the bee-eater. That is not what is IMO a good shot, the subject isn't exactly fully featured too, quite a pity It is more like a proper record shot if you ask me, hehe ;P
