Default Best Light conditions of a Day

Maybe its just me, but I feel that locally, 4-6pm ( depending on the time of the year ) of a day has the best lighting conditions of the day. Colours seems to be more vibrant, without the glare of the noon-day.

    Am I optically deluded?

soemtimes the noonday sun seems to wash out colours - semi cloudy days seems to have the same effect.....

Mid-day sun is really very harsh...very very strong. Everything looks flat. I prefer early morning or evening sun. The light then has more colours and texture. But of course, here in the UK, the sun is never high up in the middle of the sky at noon, and is always sort of to one side like morning or evening sun, which is what I like. Of course, since 7 out of 10 days is either cloudy or rainy, that sorts of mitigate the factor...
