Welcome to CS
lmao look at the date of the first post!
Well my dad bought it at 1988...he was a Nikon photographer back then.
Found it in a dusty box last year, sent it for cleaning for around $140
This lens is now still working like a charm
I've got no experience with the Tamron 18-270mm, but I would like to add that the Nikkor AF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-f/5.6 VR-II features a fast built-in focusing motor, VR-II for optical stabilization for shooting at night or in telephoto ranges. These are enough reason for you to forgo an additional 70mm on the Tamron for a Nikkor that allows you to do more at night and at range. However, you would find the the Nikkor would be more pricy compared to the Tamron. If you've already decided and bought the lens months back then I guess this post wouldn't be too useful
