Default Sunset at the Flinders Ranges

    1. in what area is critique to be sought?
Composition and whether the colour of the sky is good (upper grey portion), since I had some similar shots which I took without a ND0.9 hard grad that had a blue sky instead of it being grey. Also if the bottom portion should be brightened or made completely black

    2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
I wanted to capture the vibrancy of the colours of the sunlight reflected off the clouds, and was looking for a subject, so I thought the tree would make for a dramatic focal point

    3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
The sun was just setting when I got to the spot, so I was continuously taking different shots because the colour of the sky kept changing. I personally feel that the colours here are the best of all the shots. Was also getting cold and dark (no lights in the area), so little thought was given and the shot was rather rushed

    4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
I really like the colours of the sky and the contrast between that and the silhouette

Epic shot. the greyish sky looks like the ceiling

it is a nice silhouette, and a nice try.

problem is - right side cropped off abruptly, too much space at bottom and top.

maybe shift your frame up next time, and then try for a 16:9 crop?

sweeeeet. i second night86mare with a 16:9 crop so that more focus is on the red streaks and less grey.

looks better for me.. though i still repeat the sentiment that i wish there was space on the right.

you might want to place a top-bottom border to help with the result
