I just feel the Government should re-locate the fireworks area. I not going to make myself that I am the Mr Right here by being a keyboard warrior. Each person is entitled to have their own personal view. Come on. It the beginning of a New Year. Everyone cheer up ok.

No wonder Singapore can never excel in art. They should just ban photography at marina today. Zzz
fortunately, they didn't ask all of you to removes your legs.

"Singapore excels in art." just like goal 2010, whether tripods allow or not - it will never happen. Like using high iso to take fireworks, ermmm, to excel in art should be very creative.

but do you not think it is reasonable to ban penknives in such an event? Much like banning them on flights.....

The Esplanade bridge foot way isn't that wide after all, I see nothing wrong in not allowing tripods on the bridge, is for the sake of general public interest.
for your info, from 8pm, car traffic was closed at the bridge. more lanes were progressively opened as the crowds came in. eventually, the entire bridge was opened, except for one lane which was closed for emergency use.

wonder what time was the tripod "ban" enforced. I faced no problems with ATOS security right behind me, and i was positioned at the centre of the bridge, the guy beside me had a much bigger tripod then me too. no problems. I started my wait from 7pm.

How is it thinking out of the box? Everytime there's a fireworks display, from about 3pm onwards the whole bridge is packed with tripods. Everyone reserves their spot, sometimes using overly large tripods, and taking up a LOT of the space for other people to enjoy or simply walk.

In case of an emergency, those tripods will trip people up.

I don't see how joining the herd of hundreds of people all shooting the same thing with the same angle is "thinking out of the box".

It's most strange. I have asked some of the TS's of the other fireworks threads, and those who shot on the Esplanade Bridge all reported using tripods.
I wonder why was there a double standard where TS here was stopped from using tripod.
