Default Mamiya and Bronica

Need some advice from MF user.

How would you compare the Mamiya RZ67Pro to the Bronica SQ-AM6x6?

Which system is better to start off with for a beginner who wish to try out MF.

Which better brand's lens are more expensive?

Default mamiya & Bron

Hi

The Mamiya is a 6x7 format while the brony adopts a 6x6 format. A 6x7 (Rectangular) format will be more easily adapt to if you are upgrading from 35mm. I believe the mamiya has film back that supports 6x6 as well.

Formats aside, the Mamiya is a heavy and huge camera. I have handled the mamiya before but not the Brony SQ(I do own the ETRsi and they are built alike except for the format), the mamiya is a sturdier camera and better built. Brons has too much plastic. But the mamiya is more of a studio camera, almost impossible to hand held.

Anyway, if you come down to price, I think the mamiya bodies and lenses are is a quad more expensive than bronica and they have more resale value than the brons. Quality of pictures taken are comparable, its subjective though.

Hope it helps

Cheers
