Nice shot! I like the contrast of colours and the symmetry of the riders.

Har???

PSing for the blur???
So troublesome....

Might as well use the shaloow DOF of tele to blur the background which I believe is what he did.

that's what i thought... but note the rider behind them is fairly sharp... and the (our)right front rider seems to have a weird quality to his blur.

Well cos the rider is in the front of the intended suject which was one in Yellow. once you see it, then you know the diff.

hmm... can't really tell. but you may be right. for me, the oof bokeh of that particular rider is diff from the others, that's why it stands out.

Nice shot dude, well composed. I like how the focus is on the guy in yellow, while the rest are in blue.

Wow ... I really like this shot. Subject well lit and isolated by the darker background. The bokeh however is not as smooth. Is this taken with the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX IF HSM ? with TC ? You gave a glowing comment on this lens in a previous thread.

apart from the colours, this shot reminds me of Agent Smith in matrix... so many of them!

were you consciously conceptualizing this multiple similiar face picture before you shot? great idea!

Ok heres my guess. As we all know how telephoto can flatten a scene. I think the rider on the right is actually further away from the focused subject than he seems.

This is a cropped shot. I wasn't using the 100-300mm F4 x 1.4TC, this one was shot on a 70-200 F2.8 (which explains the shallow DOF).

The scene is such that I can neither predict who is coming around the bend, and how the subjects are arranged. No, I did not "see" this shot at the point of shooting for its symmetry nor composition. Shoot first, ask questions later. Event shooting is very hectic, especially when pro-level competition happens at such a hectic pace.

Lack of experience meant I was reacting rather than anticipating what was going to happen.

the photo is great to me.
you can see that most of the bikers are in green/blue color, and the guy in yellow jersey caught my attention immediately. the only minor defect is that the front green/blue guy on the right is somewhat in and off the focal point.
