New car woohoo, look out for physical damage lor paint work, try opening the joint parts, like door etc. While driving check for unusual sound and noise.

Additionally, you might want to visit hardwarezone.com where this has been discussed before.

You may do a search under the automotive section of the forum for this topic.

    hmmm...
    - make sure chasis and engine number match those in the rego papers.
    - scratches or discoloration in paint, dents in body work, bumpers, etc. One area prone to scratches is around the fuel filler cover.
    - check the tyres. make sure they're still "hairy". hairy tyres are new tyres.
    - dash vinyl should not have any cracks or dicoloration
    - watchout for excessive brake dust on the wheels (means car's been driven around for some time.)
    - checkout the odometer to make sure it's a new car. (though this can be adjusted.)
    - open and shut all the doors, bonnet and boot lid. make sure no rattling sound or strange noises.
    - smell interior of the car. A new interior should smell "new". if you detect a strong scent of freshener, they may be trying to cover something up.
    - pop the bonnet, check the water, brake fluid, battery, oil, auto transmission oil (if any) for correct levels.
    - make sure you got all the registration and insurance paper work.

just a few things i think you should look for...

Also, as part of the PDI, please do not hesitate to play with EVERY SINGLE BUTTON. Make sure everything works the way it should. Power windows, stereo controls, mirror controls...EVERYTHING. If your salesperson is good, he/she will understand. Don't let them push you, and no need to be paiseh one.

The costs of automobile usage, which may include the cost of: acquiring the vehicle, repairs, maintenance, fuel, depreciation, parking fees, tire replacement, taxes and insurance, are weighed against the cost of the alternatives, and the value of the benefits perceived and real of vehicle usage. The benefits may include on demand transportation, mobility, independence and convenience.
