Default Filter Adapter

Hi I'm helping a friend to look for a filter adapter for his C750UZ, don't know if such thing exist.

What he need is an adapter in front of the lens so that he is able to fix a UV for lens protection.

Appreciate any information, where and cost if possible.

Thanks

Something like this?

Got mine from Marina Square at a shop near the Food Court. Silver colour, $15. Original Olympus one is black and should be available at most stores.

That means he has a 45.6mm to 52mm adapter to attach to the lens side of the camera. On top of that he has another 52mm to 58mm step up ring. This enables him to use 58mm diameter filters. The MC is a 58mm Multi Coated filter to protect the lens.

Why do you need a 52mm to 52mm . Or are you looking for a reversing ring?

i do hv a 45.6 - 52mm adapter with a UV filter on it...

i also hv few more filters(polaroid, ND...), but then i hv this problem of every time i hv to take out the UV filter in order to change to other filter... And during the changing process, i'm worried that i might accidentally scratch the len or the len get dirty like dusk....

it's there a way of to have my UV filter to attach there permanently at the same time i still can put on other filter.... like hv another adapter??

thanks for helping me....

btw, what's a reversing ring?

Your 45.6-52mm adapter has a built in UV filter which cannot be removed??

For my setup, the 45.6-52mm adapter is basically a long hollow tube. One end screws onto the camera body (45.6mm) and the other end can screw on 52mm filters.

However, I standardised all my filters to 58mm (cos I was using a Pentax Film SLR last time and most of my lenses were that size). As such, I would need the 52-58mm step up ring to re-use my old filters.

Cheers,
David

Are all your other filters of the same size, 52mm? If yes, then there should not be any need for you to remove the UV and attach which ever filter you want to use. Just screw on the filter on top of the UV, no harm.

But do not stack too many filters one on top of the other on the lens, as stacking will cause vignetting when your at full wide.
What is vignetting? you may ask. When you stack filters or use a lens hood not meant for your particular lens, at full wide you will see a black ring around your framing.

A reversal ring is normally used in SLR. This is an adapter ring to allow the standard lens to be mounted in reverse onto the camera. This is used for shooting macro.

yo... it's me again.

i wanted to buy some filters... polariser and ND filters. and i do hv a UV filter for ur information.

but i don't understand the diff between linear and circular filters...

and for ND filter.. i not sure which one to take... *2, *4 or *8...

and any basic filters that u would recommend...

erm...also, it's there a need to get a infra-red remote control??

hope some of the senior here can give me some advices..

Sorry, but I don't want this to turn out as the blind leading the blind. I've not used any ND so can't help you on that. But would like to learn from the others as well.

As for the circular polariser, all I know is that it has a rotating outer ring where you can adjust the polarising effect.

Perhaps someone would enlighten us.

Thanks.

Hi,

Based on my limited knowledge of filters ... I refer you to the following pages!

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tu...larizers.shtml

Basically, for most modern cameras using autofocus and through the lens metering, a circular polarizer is required. You may find metering/focusing problems if you use a linear polarizer.

For Neutral Density (ND) filters, basically their job is to reduce the amount of light coming in evenly, thus reducing exposure by 1 or more stops. (i.e. allowing stepping down of aperture or shutterspeed without affecting overall exposure) Not very commonly used.

Cheers,
David

erm... sometimes we need to use the ND filter when we intend to use the slow shutter speed in a bright day to reduce the amount of light going through the lens to avoid the overexposed of picture... eg. using 10sec of shutter speed to shoot the waterfall or water flow to get the milky effect in a bright day or sunny day let say 3pm...

but i not sure whether we can do the same thing by adjust the number of brightness to -3 or -6 without using the ND filter...
