Default Basic Lighting Equipment & Budget Recommendation

    Hi all,

Looking into investing some basic lighting equipment for my photography shoots.

First up in the pipeline in photographing stills - food and products.

Can someone shed some light on what to lookout for and budget to set aside for the necessary lighting equipment that gets the job done.

If anyone has some basic lighting equipment set available for sale, do pm me as well.

    Thanks!

Tago is alright to get your accessories like stands, backdrops, reflector etc... as for main strobes, you can look at Elinchrom D-Lite4 Kit at Cathay Photo which is available for $1199 and you'll get two 400w/s strobes along with accessories. If you're very tight on budget, then consider the Jinbei Delicacy 180 set which consists of three 180w/s strobes with accessories and only under $500 - think it's available in the mass order section.

it depends on what you are shooting - portrait / still? portrait go for 500w and above. still photography prob 400w is good enough.

my suggestion to you is to go for a cheaper set up and upgrade later.

How about continuous lighting systems? The range and where to get them? Comparisons and recommendations?
