Hi! Can somebody please help me with these questions.
1. How do I increase my 10D's continous shot mode to capture say 7 fps. 2. What needs to be changed. 3. How much will it cost me. 4. Where can this be done. 5. Will this void the warranty. 6. Do I have to also change my CF card. Currently I have a 1GB Sandisk card. I like to shoot sports and I also race 1/8 scale remote control cars. Thank you for your help. |

If this was available somebody probably would have posted it up here or elsewhere before...
You might tryyyyyy asking Canon if they have sets of EOS1D to sell at a discount. I heard they were doing some institutional sales lately. |

i think the fps is either limited by i) the power requirement to drive the physical mechanisms and ii) the buffering.
The faster cameras (1D, 1VHS, 3 w booster) all have a 12V input power source, while the 10D's source is 7.2V. (The 1Ds also has a 12V input, but the chip's throughput is probably the bottle neck.) You'd probably need to be one of Canon's R&D engineers to hack this one. |

Hey thanks a lot ST1100. I guess my next DSLR would have to be a 1DS or something similar. Something with a true 35mm format too. Appreciate your info. Cheers.

1Ds is 3fps... you should be looking at 1DMkII. 8 fps.

Why pay about $8K for 8fps?
Buy a 2nd hand 1v with PB-E2 and u can get 10fps. What more it is full-frame. |

Now that is very tempting except that I just got my 10D a month ago. I would certainly look at your recomendations in the near future. And not only that...my wife would scream at me if I were to change now.

jbma does have a good question (in essence) can the 10D be modded?...ie change the shutter/mirror mechnism, no need 8fps but let's say 5 fps..etc... I'm actually interested in increasing the memory buffer.

I couldn't agree more. Give me more fps.....I need my fps. You know guys, personally I think it can be done. It's only how much it's going to cost you. In today's world anything is possible....with a price, of course.

this isn't "need some info" on the camera - this is asking to hack the firmware and hardware...

Thanks Tweek for your insight. You have a point there. My question was put out to see what kind of possibilites there are to "mod" the 10D, or any other camera for that matter. A lot of good and sensible comments was given. I just wanted to see how simple or difficult it is.
And thanks for your input too Sehsuan. I do not have any intention of hacking the firmware or hardware. I wouldn't fool around with the electronics of a 2000 plus camera. What I am saying is if there is a legal way of doing it then I might consider. Legal here means that Canon or some authorized company that is appointed by them. I guess being an IT person makes my mind think like IT. You know.....overclock the cpu add more RAMS, that kind of thing. That is the problem with me he he. No offense guys....just my 2 cents worth. Cheers. |
