Default “Customer Is Always Right” ?

    “Customer Is Always Right”

Right or wrong your views please.

Eg. Does a customer of a hawker centre stall have the same rights as one of the $+++ restaurant?

    Generally, NO.

Pay $+ get + 'rights', not +++ 'rights' ... unless food safety/environmental issues are concerned.

There are a rare few who are genuinely nice folks, or who take pride in their trade and do care, but like i said, very rare (as compared to the bulk/ttl number of hawkers).

I don't expect more rights. generally the $+++ places & more likely the $$$$$ places, give you more privileges and better services.

fun part is that in many situations if you are the one with the bigger voice and thicker skin, you'll get what you want. but again, this is not rights but just that you are a bigger axxhole than the others so they have to submit to you.

Once you transfer the money you lost the right... sigh...
I notice here in Singapore not many are thinking about long term business, almost all business want instant profit without much thinking about reputation etc like the culture of old business.

if you only ate a spoonful, you can still reject the whole meal and don't pay at all
it is either pay or don't pay, there is no half

I ever pay partially for partially eaten food, when I bought durians at Geylang, after I ate the first one, felt it is no good, the stall owner charged me only what I ate.

Had experience once where I ordered a Malay/Indonesian dish called "Sayur Lodeh" in a restaurant at the old World Trade Center.........I was not 100% sure, but it smelled not good (note that this dish has a alot of coconut gravy), but it was at the borderline in my opinion. I did eat a few spoons, but finally decided to return it, and asked for it to be scrapped of the order, and they did relent after a while............but I must admit it was borderline, cause it had only just started to smell and taste foul, anyway, my senses decided it was not worth the try

of coz customer is generally always rite. they pay money to expect a certain level of service, and will have a certain expectation.

u eat the food, but after the first bite or spoonful and felt the food too salty, are u gonna sit there and finish it up? siou meh?

u go to the restaurant, sits down, and waits half and hour to for the waiter to take ur order. okay, fine, they are bz, prolly. then after u waited 1 hour for ur food, oni to find out the guys at the next table who came in later than u, orders something similar to urs, gets their orders first, and to top it off, when ur food came, its cold. u wanna sit there and eat it?

u go into a store, service staffs avoid looking at u, depending on how u wear. what, wear singlets cannot go visit LV shop ar?

there are so many things so very wrong here in the service industry, to the point that businessmen here whose income and whose boss is the customer, don give a hoot about customers, something is definitely wrong.

sorry, post turned into something that somehow bashes the level of service here. seriously, the general consensus among business owners here is the customers are never right.

discrimination comes in many forms, how you appear (wear), race, age etc.
it is not just SGP but world wide.
you cannot change the others and definitely no point to get upset with these people.
    just be happy.

Of course. But "right" is not the same as "rights".

Yep, the customer is always right.

But that doesn't make him less of an idiot, if he already is an idiot.

true. some of the things they demand will be crazy. but the mark of a good service staff (indeed businessmen) is to steer the crazy customer ever so gently away from his complaints so that both party wins. no?

of coz. but he's still paying money to the service/goods provider, so like all our bosses, they are all idiots...
