It should works for 505. Check your custom setting no. 9 1 = ON, 2 = OFF You may refer to the online manual here. http://www.minoltausa.com/eprise/mai...XTsi_part2.pdf Cheers! Des |

(OT : are you a Japanese?) Attach the 3600 to the camera hotshoe and set it ON. Make sure, the flash setting on the camera is set to ON as well (erh I think auto should be fine). When your camera has problem focusing, its will automatically activate the illuminator. Simple! Perform a simple test by pointing your camera in a dark room or corner to see its work. Do post back here if it does work still, I'll tried it tonight when back home ![]() Cheers! Des |

Hi Kyoku....
FYI.....the illuminator does not turn on on the A1. The A1 itself does not have an illuminator for AF. However, due to the low light (to a certain lowlight level) AF ability....by the sensor itself (which will be a mono image when used in the dark). This becomes like a night vision to an extent. Well maybe Minolta guys thinks thak ...why need an AF illuminator when you already have a image sensor that can be "amplified" to a certain extent.... I persoanlly own an A1 and happy with its low light capability... Rgds, Sulhan |

Doesn't the IR illuminator on the 3600 light up to paint a red pattern on your subject for the A1? Or does it operate differenty on the SLRs compared to the A1? |

No, the AF illuminator doesn't work for the A1. The amplifying mode is automatic, which is indicated by the screen/evf image becoming mono/grayscale. Don't think there's away to switch it on manually though.
