ouch.. i feel for the TS... lesson learned... i hope your friend is responsible enough...

just wondering why in the damned hells would he "borrow" a 6-7k setup to bring abroad??? .... where did he get the gall to even ask for it and much more lose it... i'd be preoccupied the whole trip with where the camera is if i were him, knowing the cost of it. Its not a nice way to enjoy a holiday trip being preoccupied. Also, the scenery won't change that much when using a budget slr... even a decent p&s would suffice...

on the other hand, this story is to the limit of unbelievable because of the circumstance..lol

Bows to the wisdom of Sion hahahha

Interesting thread..how TS and his frenz has reached some form of settlement and regain their friendship.. however, being inspired by Master Sion... may I try one quote

"Do not lent bulky full frame camera system to one for travelling....
for some hotel room's safe is just too small for it to fit in... "
    camel

incidentally, I'm writing from a hotel room and my Nikon D80 already won't fit ...

No questions asked. Don't need to talk about last time grandfather grandmother story like "I lend you my lecture notes so that you passed your exams" or "I let you copy my lab report" so I don't have to payup this time. Don't even need the friend to go to some forum and rant about it. Period.

if want to talk about friendship, history everything than there is no end. maybe the good friend is TS' life saviour previously but TS might have already repaid the "favor". One can't expect a friend to be indebted to oneself forever and ever.

This is not old fashioned, but having good principles. Your parents taught you well coolsigg.

This situation is a good test to the friendship. If your friend takes the initiative to compensate the full cost of purchasing a new set, he is a worthy friend....if otherwise...then...

if he is your friend, then he should return you the same setup.
