Who cares, the dslr and hybrids cameras are still so damn big. If they cannot comes out with an APS-C quality with build-in 5x optical zoom the size of Canon S5IS, no point talking about downsizing.

Currently, it is like a mini towing a lorry, small body big lens.

surely they have to say so to promote their m4/3 product.

If they can't solve the slow focus issue due do mirrorless setting. The mirror will still be there in DSLR camera for those who prefer fasct focus speed to capture action shots.

So? We don't live in the future...

Anyway, I also believe a mirror-less camera body is the way industries are moving towards. However, it would not be a sudden death for DSLR.

10years ago. nikon D1 worth more 10k shoots 2.7 mega pix....
10 years ago, google was nth, still finding funds. today its the biggest internet giant.

someday, they can use replica of human eye balls as camera. - instant auto focus, ultra high dynamic range!

    Got lor!

You try close one eye, put your finger a few cm away from your eye and focus on it. observe the ultra bokeh behind.

budden must rest the eye every 30 min, later kena short sighted.
    Nikon.
    Nuff said.

bokeh is the visual esthetic quality of out of focus areas... and as for out of focus areas, it is there even for the human eye... try putting your hand near the eye, focus on your hand and try to look at, but not focus on, things in the distance... how is the quality of the bokeh

This focus 100% hunts before locking on target... no point...
At least S5 IS didn't hunt all the time. (less low lit room at 12X Zoom)

Rather I would say interchangeable lens digital camera with small sensor will be the future...
When such sensor are able to produce ISO1600 noise free images.

Well said ! I think the m4/3 cameras are still very much in its infancy. Its a good idea , a good alternative . But is it good enough to replace DSLRs ? Perhaps too early to make any sweeping statements.

I would definitely like to shoot pictures looking through the VF. The overall handling and ergonomics of the DSLR feels more satisfying than the small m4/3.

Perhaps to the masses , who finds DSLR bulky , the m4/3 would open a segment for such consumers.

U gotta quote correctly. I dun think that guy said that DSLR will die...just that mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses are the future.

It is not hard to believe. Samsung and Fuji apparently has joined albeit slightly different formats. Panasonic already on.
Olympus has always led the way in terms of photographic innovations eg. 4/3 system which is first full digital SLR format, first effective sensor cleaner (SSWF), first articulated LCD screen, first Live View LCD, and first image stabilization.... all in this age of digital cameras in the last decade. The fact that Canon and Nikon have DSLRs which now have the above features are proof that these features are marketable.

Only thing is that Olympus tech usually more advanced than their marketing. They produce too many things in one shot and the marketing department dun know how to present the product. For the other brands, their marketing is better and more focused. They tend to focus on one feature at a time when they market. eg. Produce a camera with articulated LCD and there is a major marketing touting 270 degrees of freedom etc etc.

"Olympus will target the 'geek-lite'. These are people aged 30-50 who it sees as 'intelligent', yet 'not an egg-head camera person with an eight-pocket camera bag and 15 lenses'. "

The Maxxum 7D's "unique selling point" is its Anti-Shake stabilization system, unique among digital SLR's. Minolta first introduced this feature with the DiMAGE A1, it is unique in its operation because instead of stabilizing a lens element (as in a traditional image stabilization system) the sensor is stabilized. Inside the 7D its six megapixel CCD is mounted on a movable platform controlled by two actuators (x and y axis).
Liveview LCD, Sony did it with R1 already, just that it's not interchangeable lens.

    Articulate LCD......

This I agree, Konica Minolta didn't do a good job on Anti Shake sensor marketing.
