    Default Rate for family events

Hi, I am still very green in going photography biz.

What rate should I charge for family events?

For example a 80th Birthday Dinner or Christmas party for a family?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Professional rates for events are about $80-$200/hr. If you are starting out, it might be $20-$50/hr. I had a look at the services section in CS.

    Thanks Z. Really appreciate it.

The other related questions would be:

    1. Do you charge them for the digital images or FOC in a CD/DVD?

    Hi!

airmj has a solid article on this at http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=556174 for event photography. Take some time to read it.

I charge $50/CD with color accurate contact sheets (16images/A4). Each image with highres TIF and lowres JPG versions.

Thanks for the leads and sharing.
So with the CD the client can go develop it (TIF) or upload it (JPG) .

I don't want to short change myself or spoil market rate ... so better have a stand on the pricing. Thanks for the advice.
