    Guys,

Can someone enlighten me on what is "Hyperfocal distance"? Kind of did some googling, read a bit, BUT still don't really quite get it. How does it apply for landscape or taking pictures mainly with a UWA/WA lens kind of shots? Do we really have to calculate the distance etc and/or there is a way to decide roughly and how will it affect if we really have no clue on this hyperfocal distance when taking landscapes (in particular).

On another topic, when you do a typical landscape, wide kind of shots, where would you "focus" on? Where is your camera shutter "half press" focus? Just some random trees/mountains/hills/objects from afar? How does this relate or have any connection with my above mentioned hyperfocal distance thing?

Ok, all these sounds so noob.. but please enlighten somebody! Thanks ah!

Focus to infinity means the lens will focus to endless length. Basically all the way to the horizon.

Focus to infinity + aperture stopdown gives you everything in focus.

And where does the focusing distance starts? From the focal plane inside your camera body to your subject.
